About The Book

“Doctors mistakenly believed Lyme Disease was child abuse…”

Lyme Disease is one of the most commonly mis-diagnosed infections — and is so invasive it can attack any system in the body. Symptoms can mimic medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus…or even a psychiatric disorder.

Practicing physician and epidemiologist, Dr. Daniel Cameron has studied Lyme disease since 1987. In “An Expert’s Guide to Navigating Lyme Disease,” he compiles years of research in hopes of uniting medical professionals on properly diagnosing and treating Lyme patients.

Dr. Cameron has written over 600 Lyme Science Blogs—explaining tick bites, symptoms, diagnostic concerns, and care plans. Those blogs along with over 200 clinical cases are detailed in this book. He hopes the information will help patients—facing a magnitude of various symptoms—understand everything that experts know about Lyme disease.

The book’s digital version includes five short videos that will help family and friends of Lyme Disease patients understand the symptoms, co-infections, and treatment options. It also includes links to Dr. Cameron’s blogs—allowing readers to ask questions or make comments.

Lyme disease has been called many different things and is surrounded by constant debate and controversy. As the debate is being resolved, It has become a model for helping us to better understand complex multisystem disease. Clinical observation and research has shown us an often undetectable tick bite can interact with each individual’s unique vulnerabilities and contribute to a broad spectrum of diseases, or no disease different people. Dr. Cameron explains the different facets of Lyme/tick-borne diseases to help make this very complicated subject become more comprehensible. As a psychiatrist, we are always attempting to better understand all the contributors that interact to cause mental illnesses. An expanding recognition that Lyme, other tick-borne diseases, and other infections is helping us to better prevent and cure some mental illnesses rather than just managing chronic symptoms. Psychiatry and medicine must always move forward and a better understanding of the issues addressed in this book helps us advance into the future.”

I write to celebrate your expertise
And your encyclopaedic views of the full spectrum of Lyme borreliosis and its coinfections.
Your monograph is a long awaited successor to the essential encyclopedic curriculum presented in the Stokes textbook of Syphilis from 1945. Readers of your book will glean innumerable
“ teachable moments” of the variations , permutations , elementary and advanced diagnostic iterations of the daunting and challenging clinical categories of Lyme borreliosis.
Your patients and your colleagues who read this magnificent monograph will achieve a masterful appreciation and a respect for the daunting medical complexities of Lyme borreliosis in the human host.
Clear vision of the diagnostic subcategories of Lyme borreliosis has been in past decades been compromised by the absence of an encyclopedic textbook. That void has been corrected by your monograph and the benefits which will accrue to global patient care are huge.

“As a parent dealing with my two daughters’ Lyme and co-infections, I wish had Dr. Cameron’s book “An Expert’s Guide on Navigating Lyme” when I started this journey.
The book describes in detail what you need to know about Lyme, co-infections, testing, symptoms to look out for, cases, and treatments.
Dr. Cameron’s book also includes links to videos, blogs, and podcasts for more information on the different topics if you are interested in finding out even more details about this complex disease.
Often, parents need to advocate for their children when dealing with mainstream doctors and specialists regarding Lyme.
Knowledge is power, and this book is a great starting point.”
