LYME DISEASE Q & A VIDEO SERIES

What are cysts to Lyme disease?

ANSWER:

There’s a growing interest in cysts in Lyme disease infections. For years they thought there were some small microscopic changes in the spirochete. Could this be an opportunity to treat? So they’ve been studying these cysts. They have a model to study the cysts, and in that model, they utilized Flagyl. They thought maybe that would help. They used Stevia, the sweetener, and they thought that might help, but these results are so early. I’m studying it. I follow it. I’m not convinced that these approaches are the first or second line for the treatment of Lyme. There are so many other things that I worry about in Lyme including co-infections that I’d rather approach those things first.
