An 83-Year-Old Man With a Stroke Associated With Lyme Disease

Stroke associated with Lyme disease is rare but has been reported in patients with neurologic Lyme disease. In this episode of the Inside Lyme Podcast, Dr. Cameron reviews the case of an 83-year-old man who developed a stroke associated with Lyme disease.

Dr. Cameron believes that one of the best ways to understand Lyme disease is by reviewing real clinical cases.

Legast and colleagues first described this case in the journal Case Reports in Neurological Medicine in 2018.

The patient was hospitalized with right-sided weakness and speech difficulties. He was diagnosed with a stroke associated with Lyme disease and received treatment.

Following treatment, he was able to walk with a cane but continued to have significant weakness in his right arm.
