With spirochetes they say alot of babies are "asymptomatic" however rashes they claim to be "eczema" is common. Peeling hands and feet are also a missed symptom that they say is "normal". Wonder why 1 in 30 kids have nu Neurodevelopmental delays....THIS is why and the testing that is NOT performed which should be mandatory.

This is a known fact … that stress on the immune system can bring Lyme out. We have many in our womens Lyme support group that symptoms didnt show up until after childbirth. We have so many coming down with Lyme after having Covid. It suppresses the immune system. Lyme can cause autoimmune responses causing autoimmune diseases. There is always a cause. Treat the cause. I had MS. When I came down with full blown Lyme, I found out it was Lyme the whole time. There is no mimic about it. Today my MS is gone and my Lyme is in remission.

Perhaps no symptoms arose because pregnancy is a state of lowered immune response? Similar to lupus symptoms easing up and coming back after giving birth, could this explain this woman's case?

If only people knew about t. Denticola and the red virus which causes periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease. But heart doctors make too much money to provide a differential diagnosis.

I got a staph infection after knee replacement. Three yrs later I still have severe pain in the joint. The surgeon wouldn’t discuss a connection to Lyme nor would he test the synovial fluid. This article didn’t say which IV and oral ABX’s were used to improve the infection. Any suggestions?

Have to disagree based on my personal experience. Even treated with oral abx just puts it on hold ie the resolution is temporary. My left knee was replaced 3 times and still swells. I am on long term abx that seems to keep it under control and the other lyme associated issues system wide. No enough bone to do another one, so oral antibiotics are probably on my menu for life. Dr Cameron I respect what you do to help folks alot, but I really wish you would have the gumption to come out against shots that destroy immune systems. I can't believe that you don't know better, you're too smart and on top of latest information to not know.

Just got a knee replaced (3rd prosthetic joint); recovery is not going well (4 months post op, still crutching, but at least no infection).

Penicillin cures the spirochete known as syphilis, a neurological disease. Why have they stopped using this for Lyme, spirochete, they used to? Fever and rash are normal, it's the die off reaction, not always an "allergy"

I had Lyme Disease with extremely high inflammatory markers,. Developed Lymphoma and had cancer treatments. I asked to be checked and my CRP and SED rate was normal! I know chemo reduced the inflammation!!!!

These articles are so frustrating to read because the main component of testing is completely false as many of us know the numbers of reported cases are so far off if you only have 2/5 not Lyme Positive yet you have the majority of symptoms and can barely walk, and had a faint rash, your not considered LD positive. Yet you can be tested 5 times with the same symptoms and finally that 5th test shows a positive test, so now you can receive treatment after Lyme has turned chronic say 5 months prior but now that the test shows 5/5 finally doctors can treat you. What happened to Igenex testing in NY that was voted on in 2019, to be allowed yet many doctors do not know of the testing or what lab to use. Then many in the Medical community say do not research and look on the internet and use alternate therapies they do not work. But funny many show great improvement with those alternative therapies not covered by insurance.

You mean they actually keep track of lyme cases? Why when 28 days of doxycycline is so great at preventing dissemination?! We have a long way to go before lyme and its co-infections are controlled...

I am so sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. The only medical care I now can get for my tick borne illnesses are "opinions" & gas lighting. After decades of appointments with obtuse IDSA affiliated infectious disease specialists spewing boilerplate dogma cooked up at the '93 Dearborn Conference, I now have abnormal Motor Neuropathy GQ1b Guillain Barre' Syndrome antibodies and GD1b Gate Ataxia antibodies with low Protein C Functional & D-dimer. So what do you think will be next in my "Rollodex of Health Issues"? Stroke, Heart Attack, Seizure, Blindness, Immobility...? When I present with these symptoms, will I be treated...THEN? Will I verbally be able to string together a coherent sentence at that point? Will I be able to write one?

Yep. Two types for me. First, I got stuck to walls. Couldn't move unless someone moved me. Second type was when a flash would go off from a camera or on tv, I would go into a sleep/trance for 18 hours. Very weird.

I have mini-blackouts that show as seizures on EEG. MRI shows small white lesions that are progressing. Seizure med is helping but causes severe fatigue. I hope it doesn’t progress to ALZ.

The problem is with testing. Spirochetes have the ability to use host protein and host bacteria to create spirochete round bodies. They have used your body to look like YOU but the body knows somethings pretending. We call these viruses or "auto immune" to attack them the body essentially has to attack "itself" That's why reliable testing while symptomatic is so important. They used to use penicillin as treatment, spirochetes are spirochetes, now they just "manage" instead of cure. A dose of silver to break the biofilm along with extended iv penicillin should cure.

So many quack doctors out there don’t even know what to look for. It’s terrible. Meanwhile, the patient is floundering.

My granddad killed himself thinking he was getting Alzheimer's, pretty sure he would have had Lyme as we were always covers in ticks when we came from the garden and always removed them wrong too back then.. 😞 My mum said he used to get weird headaches and kept tapping his forehead like I did when I had a Lyme flare a few years later, and if I hadn't been in my 20s and already been diagnosed with Lyme beforehand I would have believed I had dementia too at my worst...

14 years they let him suffer. And in order to finally be heard he had to leave a note begging them to look for spirochetes and kill himself to be heard. And they found the spirochetes right where he knew they’d be. He was 28 years old. The world needs to do better. 🤬

There was a 69 (67?) year woman who got antibiotics and she said she should have an autopsy when dead. They found spirochetes in her brain. But public health still continues with mal practices. Why? We all know..$

I appreciate the concerns over this Phase 2a Proof-of-Concept “Tick-Kill” Trial. I also have countless concerns over this treatment including whether Lyme disease or a co-infection might occur before the tick is killed.

Yeah and how toxic is it? If it kills a bug then wouldn’t it be like I don’t know, intentionally swallowing insecticides? Not that we’re not doing that already from the food we eat but that’s the point. These things have already been proven to be toxic/ carcinogenic to humans. I’m sure they’re causing cancers and other health issues in our pets as well. This only works for office people who rarely go to nature. If you have some more exposure you would not want to take meds lifelong. And even then - ticks are also known to live in parks in big cities ...

I wish they put the same amount of time and energy into finding something that works to kill the disease once you have it. Treating Lyme is like whack-a-mole. You think you have it and then something else pops up when you go to smack that something else pops up. Our medical system sucks. I don’t know that they will ever find a cure for anything because then the big pharmacies will be out of business.

They still have to attach though to get the poison and die. Which makes me wonder if they still have time to transmit infections before dying.

English “Danish census of 431 patients with neuroborreliosis from 2017 showed that the average incidence of Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB) was 4.7 per 100,000 inhabitants per year on Funen. The most common clinical symptoms were painful radiculitis (66%), cranial nerve palsy (43%) and headache (28%). The study showed an unchanged delay from symptom onset to diagnosis over 20 years [1]. Definite diagnosis of LNB requires neurological symptoms compatible with it, lymphocytic pleocytosis in the spinal fluid and intrathecal Borrelia burgdorferi -specific immunoglobulin (Ig) G and/or IgM antibody synthesis. Investigations for multiple sclerosis (MS) are carried out after a symptom increases over hours to days and lasts for several weeks, after which it usually slowly disappears. These symptoms usually occur in younger adults and are typically related to optic neuritis, cerebellar syndrome, spinal cord syndrome, or brainstem syndrome. The symptom must thus be located in the central nervous system (CNS) and last for at least 24 hours, and the patient must not be febrile. Such a symptom allows making the diagnosis of MS if the MR scan of the CNS shows dissemination in space and there are oligoclonal bands in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSV) [2]. In this article, we describe a patient who met the criteria for both diagnoses, and conduct a review of MR scan changes in LNB. MEDICAL HISTORY A 27-year-old man, previously healthy, was referred in November 2021 because of increasing headaches. He related the headache to a minor head trauma during a ball game in July 2021. However, the medical history showed that the headache occurred a week after the head trauma, which was not associated with an impact on consciousness. At the same time, it emerged that the patient had taken part in a survival course a month before, but he did not remember observing skin changes. He experienced double vision when looking straight ahead, had intermittent dizziness, persistent light sensitivity and paresthesias in the fingers, and generally decreased energy levels. The examinations showed latent squinting and limited inward turning of the eyes. MR scan of the cerebrum in April 2022 showed juxtacortical and periventricular lesions ( Figure 1 ). On suspicion of MS, spinal fluid examination was performed in May 2022, which showed eight mononuclear cells, elevated IgG index and oligoclonal bands. Finally, a positive intrathecal Borrelia antibody index was found. The patient started treatment with doxycycline 200 mg daily for three weeks. At follow-up after 12 months, he reported significant improvement in the headache and a clear reduction in light sensitivity, but continued impact on quality of life, as he often had to choose what he could overcome. The memory was good, but there was still difficulty concentrating. Ophthalmological examination in June 2023 showed completely normal conditions. Follow-up MRI scans showed unchanged conditions in September 2022 and in September 2023. DISCUSSION This medical history shows that even a very small increase in the number of mononuclear cells in CSV can be seen with LNB. In the Danish survey mentioned above, normal cell counts in CSV were found in around 11% of patients with LNB [1]. This meant that the treatment time was delayed, and thus there was an increased risk of persistent symptoms. Contributing to the delay in the current patient was that he belonged to both the approximately 80% who do not remember a rash and the more than 60% who do not remember ever being bitten by a tick. By searching PubMed, we found seven case reports that described juxtacortical lesions, periventricular lesions, brainstem lesions and spinal cord lesions in relation to LNB. These changes were associated with the symptoms described above, but also with symptoms of optic neuritis [3]. In one of the articles, LNB changes were distinguished from MS changes by a special MR scanning technique [4]. Demyelinating changes periventricularly at LNB were also found histologically [5]. This supports a secondary, autoimmune reaction, which is one of the pathogenetic hypotheses of MS. A further 15 case reports described MR scan changes in LNB in ​​the form of charging in cranial nerves, meningoencephalitis, meningoradiculitis, encephalitis, vasculitis and tumor-like changes. We must therefore conclude that with MR scanning there may be overlap between LNB and MS, but larger, prospective case-control studies are needed to better elucidate changes in LNB. At the slightest suspicion of LNB, a lumbar puncture must be performed, and a normal cell count in the spinal fluid does not rule out LNB.

14 days of Doxy is NOT enough to get rid of Lyme (and friends). It IS enough to get rid of the rash. This poor woman may be in a world of hurt in the months to come. Is there a follow-up to her story.

Puedo decir que fui una de las afortunadas en volver a ser yo a base de insistir a los médicos,sólo una persona que contrae Lyme sabe cómo está de enferma. Totalmente recuperada desde el 2021, Me puse en tratamiento a los 6 días de quitar la garrapata e hicieron falta 21 días de doxicilina descanse 2 semanas y volví con doxicilina otros 21 días..aún así los síntomas permanecieron 8 meses en mi cuerpo,después del tratamiento fueron desapareciendo pero muy lentamente. Nunca más volvió la pesadilla. Ojalá se recupere pero pienso que es insuficiente...

I had a number of Lyme symptoms as a young child...including high fevers and rashes. Sadly, no one diagnosed Lyme disease and co-infections until over 50 years later (2015).

Doxycycline is not strong enough. Penicillin USED to be used. Spirochetes are spirochetes.

About 20 years ago, I met a young woman who moved from North Carolina to California for work. She had a Dalmatian who had deformed looking hip bones, walked with a limp, and occasionally made random moaning sounds. She said the doc had arthritis. It was only a few years old. Years later, when I got Lyme, I realized that poor Dalmatian probably had undiagnosed Lyme Disease.

My NC doctor told me I couldn't have Lyme because "There is no Lyme in North Carolina." What an idiot. Wake County is endemic. I told him that the CDC disagreed with him and fired him.

“28-day course of doxycycline.” That would rewoke a doctors license here in Sweden. 2 weeks says infection specialist cures all pathogens they say. I have it recorded.
