Dr. Daniel Cameron: Inside Lyme Podcast
A 36-year-old man with severe neuropathic pain in both feet.
A 36-year-old man suffered with severe neuropathic pain in both feet. The pain was severe at a level 10 out of 10 despite methadone 5 mg every four hours as needed. The doctors elected not to treat with antibiotic under the assumption that the tick-borne infection had resolved.
I first read about this case in the journal Neuromodulation by Karri and colleagues.
The pain remained severe despite trials of gabapentin, duloxetine, bupropion and narcotics. The pain improved with two surgical proceduresÂ

I had Lyme tic bite in September 2019 doctors not recognised it until February 2020. Given course of 3 weeks doxycycline appeared to cure problem, then symptoms reappeared in June 2020 so another course of Doxycyline . Since then I have had very painful feet and ankles feeling like walking on sharp stones, I need walking stick to go anywhere away from home. Doctors just give me pain killer cream to rub on them every 4 hours. This is not practical as need to remove trousers and shoes and socks. I a m 88 and do have problems reaching down to my feet. I live near south coast of England close to a forest which is known as a Lyme area
